  • important PSA about when your car is smoking

    theevilblackbunny:

    alicatchrist:

    mama-green:

like literally smoking from the engine

    white and you smell pancakes?
it’s the coolant. panic and pull over, but you’ll live

    a slight blue tinge?
it’s the oil. panic and pull over, but you’ll live

    grey, looks like fire smoke?
gasoline; the most combustable and dangerous. pull over and leave the vehicle, pray.

sharing because i didn’t know this when my car started smoking white yesterday and i was so afraid for my life.

Reblogging because a dear friend of my Moms with mechanic experience told me the same thing when I got my license.

White or blue, you’ll pull through.

But if it’s gray, get away.

    Storytelling Techniques

A good storytelling method is essential for writing good fiction. There are many storytelling techniques that can be used to create engaging and memorable stories. Here are some common techniques you can use in your stories:

    1. Use sensory details: Including sensory details in your story can help your audience imagine the scene and get emotionally invested in the story. For example, you can describe the colors, sounds, and smells of a place or event.
    2. Build tension and suspense: Tension and suspense are important for keeping your audience engaged and invested in your story. You can create tension by introducing a conflict or challenge that the characters must overcome.
    3. Foreshadowing: Foreshadowing is a technique used to hint at future events in the story. This can create anticipation and keep your audience engaged.
    4. Use pacing effectively: Pacing refers to the speed at which the story unfolds. Make sure to vary the pacing to keep your audience engaged. For example, you can slow down the pacing during emotional or reflective moments, and speed it up during action scenes.
    5. Show, don’t tell: Instead of simply telling your audience what is happening in the story, show them through vivid descriptions and actions. This can help your audience feel more immersed in the story.
    6. Use metaphor and simile: Metaphors and similes can help create vivid descriptions and comparisons in your story. They can also help to convey complex ideas in a more accessible way.
    7. Flashbacks and flash-forwards: Flashbacks and flash-forwards can help provide context for the story and create tension. Make sure to use them sparingly and at appropriate moments in the story.
    8. Use humor: Humor can be a powerful tool for engaging your audience and making your story more memorable. Just make sure that the humor is appropriate for the tone and subject matter of your story.
    9. Suspenseful chapter endings: Ending chapters on a suspenseful note can help keep your audience engaged and eager to read on.

By using these techniques and others, you can create a compelling and memorable story that will engage and entertain your audience.

“Let us put it generally: if a regime is immoral, its citizens are free from all obligations to it.” – Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Gulag Archipelago.

[Pictured: Captain Pia Klemp sitting in a chair beside her controls.

@VivianAngrisani on Twitter wrote on 6/8/2019: “Pia Klemp, a German biologist & boat captain faces 20 yrs in prison for rescuing 1,000+ migrants at risk of drowning whilst crossing the Mediterranean. Seeking asylum is a human right. Only 1 in 100 sea captains are female. This woman is a humanitarian, not a criminal. #FreePia”

@Galactic_Rabbit quote-tweeted on 6/10/2019 and wrote: “Thinking about all those videos of people honored in their old age for hiding/protecting Jewish people.”]

To all the people commenting that she’s an accessory to “illegal immigration,” note that seeking asylum is a human right. Countries which refuse asylum are in violation of the Geneva Convention. They get away with this and propagandize complacency towards the victims by using bureaucracy to complicate immigration proceedings. During times of genocide, this is tantamount to hearing a would-be murder victim knocking on your door and locking the deadbolt.

People who risk dying getting smuggled across borders do so out of sheer desperation because the situation they’re leaving is worse. Finally, you are missing the entire point: violation of the law is warranted when the laws violate human rights and criminalize existence. Laws which call immigrants “illegal” are tools of a systemic negligence designed to condemn those who need legal protection the most.

Oh and here’s the petition to #FreePia.

Hiding Jewish people or smuggling them out of Germany was illegal too.

as of 10 february 2023, the petition is still just short of its goal of 500k signatures.

  • Jedi Love and Order

    thewriterowl:

Ok, so been chatting with the beloved @drooliesblog and we just started chatting on how much we love the Jedi Order and how heart crushing it is so many do not have the same view.

Everyone understands that the Jedi Order isn’t cold or calloused or against love, correct? That they would be fine with Luke falling in love and being with Din and adopting Grogu, right? Cause the Jedi would. 100%.

    The Jedi are against attachments.

People are thinking of attachment as this definition: “affection, fondness, or sympathy for someone or something” (dictionary) and think that the Jedi are against that.

It is more of the literal sense for Jedi: “Oh, we’re literally bound together and cannot get away”. They are against the sense of control, possessiveness, and terror that comes from this (as proven by Anakin).

Jedi have sex. Jedi have family. Jedi have friends. Jedi love and adore and show affection and sympathy and fondness to everyone. They’re against the concept of marriage (which, honestly, so many Milenials and such are against anyway) because it is this forced bonding that can be a bit archaic and offers problems and obstacles. it’s this control and possessiveness over a relationship where the title of spouse comes from a piece of paper.

Anakin could’ve been with Padme. He could’ve had his twins (though he would probably not become part of the council–for many other reasons tho). But he could not have both to the “ultimate” level. He wanted the best of both worlds instead of accepting the loss of one side. He could’ve been a Jedi…but he couldn’t reach the top because they need people who can remain as unbiased as possible. Anakin would be too easily swayed based on what’s best for his family and not for the galaxy. But Anakin wanted that. He wanted to be a Master. He wanted that position (another reason he wasn’t going to get it and Obi-Wan did…Obi-Wan didn’t want it). And it was this possessive that started to corrupt him, and his intense fear, that led to his demise…not the Jedi rejecting love.

Obi-Wan was willing to leave the Order for Satine and he was comfortable in admitting that. He was comfortable in doing that because he was not attached to the Jedi Order and he wanted to support Satine who probably would’ve needed a consort rather than a Jedi from Obi-Wan at that point…probably the main reason for him choosing to leave and not because he’d be exiled or rejected.

Plo and Mace adore their Clones and look after them. They see them as family. Ayla is either with Kit or Bly (or both) and no one is saying a word about it. Vos’ story is him falling dark because of his affection for Ventress but pulling back because he realized what he was doing and let’s her go after her death. A big part of Yoda’s journey in the Clone Wars was he letting go of his fear and attachment for the Jedi who are his family.

Jedi love HARD. And that can be a problem because love can corrupt. There is so much toxic relationships out there (hell, just turn on something in regards to true crime and it seems to be involved with attachment of sorts) and the Jedi know they can be corrupted easier than most and with very, very bad consequences that could lead to deaths of thousands.

BUT even if they didn’t do that…they’re simply urging for a healthy relationship. You can’t be possessive. You can’t let your affection for someone overthrow your ability to think and take care of yourself and others. You can’t let it poison you.

So…yeah, pro Jedi and their view on love.
